What factors determine my policy premium?
Some of the factors that influence premium include: location of property/vehicle covered, age, claims history, and insurance score. For Auto policies additional factors are vehicle type and size as well as driving history. For Home policies, additional factors include the year built and construction type.

Does every local Nationwide Insurance have access to my policy account?

Is flood insurance covered on my homeowners policy?
Flood insurance is not included on any homeowners policy with any company. A separate is needed for flood insurance coverage.
How much dwelling coverage do I need for my condo?
The master policy for the condo will determine the type of coverage needed. The bi-laws will state whether there needs to be “walls-in” coverage or not. Walls in, aka “studs in,” will cover the interior of the unit and personal property inside. Usually, lenders require 20% of the purchase price for the dwelling amount.
Is Earthquake coverage automatically included on the homeowners policy?
No, however it can be added to the policy for an additional premium.
What does water backup cover?
Water backup coverage option expands coverage if water backs up through your sewer or drains, or your sump pump overflows.
What does "full coverage" mean?

What is ‘uninsured motorist’ coverage?
Uninsured motorist insurance coverage which protects you and the people in your car in the event another driver hits you with inadequate insurance coverage or no auto insurance at all.
If my car breaks down, will my auto insurance cover the cost of a rental car?
No, rental car coverage is only applied in the event your vehicle is damaged in an accident.
What does 25/50/25 mean on my auto policy?
- The first number 25 stands for $25,000. This is your maximum coverage for bodily injury liability for one person injured in an accident or incident.
- The second one number 50 stands for $50,000. This is your maximum coverage for bodily injury liability for all persons injured in an accident.
- The third number 20 stands for $20,000. This is your maximum coverage for property damage liability in an accident that you caused.
*All coverages are applied on a per accident basis.
What is ‘other than collision’ coverage?
‘Other than collision’ coverage protects your car or truck if it is stolen, damaged or destroyed by fire, hail, glass damage and if you hit an animal.
If an accident occurs where I am at fault are my passengers and I covered if we are injured?
You and any passengers who are household members can be covered under the optional Medical Expense Coverage; if that option has been added onto your policy. Passengers who are not household members, could be covered under both the Medical Expense coverage and/or the Bodily Injury liability coverage on your auto policy.
Will my business auto insurance policy cover my tools if they are damaged/stolen while in my vehicle?
Only equipment that is permanently installed would be covered by a business auto policy. An inland marine policy will cover tools/equipment while being transported and while at the job site.
In Virginia, when does a business legally have to carry Workers Compensation Insurance?
A business with 3 or more employees, including the owner, is legally responsible to carry Workers Compensation Insurance.
What is hired and Non-owned auto?
Insurance provides liability coverage for bodily injuries or property damage that you or your employees cause while driving for work. This protection applies to vehicles you “hire” (example: a rental car) or vehicles your business doesn’t own (example: employees’ personal vehicles).
Do I have liability coverage for a rental vehicle under my Commercial Auto policy?
Yes. You must have ‘hired car liability’ coverage on your policy and the vehicle must be rented under the name of the business.
